Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

Short version: Use Cuttlefox to customize pages for yourself. Don't use it to harm others or circumvent security controls. Pay for what you use. We can suspend accounts that break these rules.

1. Acceptance

By installing the Cuttlefox Chrome extension or using cuttlefox.com (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Cuttlefox is a Chrome extension that lets you describe changes to any webpage in plain language. The Service sends a representation of the page and your instructions to an AI, which generates a declarative script. That script is saved to your account and runs automatically each time you visit the matching page.

Scripts run locally in your browser. They modify the page as you see it — they do not affect what other users see, and they do not send data to the page's server.

3. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Notify us immediately at hello@cuttlefox.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

4. Free trial

New accounts receive a 7-day free trial. The trial includes access to all features and $1.00 in AI credits. No payment method is required to start a trial. Trial eligibility is limited to one trial per person — creating multiple accounts to obtain additional trials violates these Terms.

5. Billing

After your trial, continued use requires a paid subscription at $2.50 per month. Subscriptions are billed monthly and renew automatically. Payments are processed by Paddle, who acts as merchant of record.

AI credits are purchased separately in top-up bundles ($5, $10, $20, or $50). Credits are consumed when you send messages to the AI. Unused credits carry over month to month and do not expire while your account is active.

You may cancel your subscription at any time via the account panel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer partial-month refunds, but unused AI credits remain available until your account closes.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Cuttlefox to:

  • Modify pages in ways that harm, deceive, or defraud other people (e.g. altering prices or content visible to others via shared screens to mislead them).
  • Circumvent authentication, access controls, or security mechanisms of any website.
  • Scrape, harvest, or exfiltrate data from websites at scale.
  • Generate or inject malicious code, phishing content, or content that violates the rights of others.
  • Abuse the trial system by creating multiple accounts to avoid paying.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, probe, or disrupt the Cuttlefox backend or API.

Cuttlefox is designed for personal customisation of pages you visit. Any use that goes beyond personalising your own browsing experience is outside the intended scope of this Service.

7. AI-generated content

Scripts are generated by an AI model and may occasionally produce unexpected results. You should review any script before saving it. Cuttlefox provides a preview of each change before it is committed.

You are responsible for the scripts saved to your account and their effects on pages you visit. We are not liable for any consequences arising from scripts you choose to apply.

8. Intellectual property

The Cuttlefox extension, backend, and website are owned by Cuttlefox and protected by copyright. You may not copy, modify, or distribute them without written permission.

Scripts you generate and save are yours. By saving a script through the Service, you grant Cuttlefox a limited licence to store and execute it on your behalf.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated scripts will always produce the intended result.

Websites change. A script that works today may break if the target site updates its structure. Cuttlefox includes a self-healing feature that detects broken scripts and offers to repair them with AI, but we cannot guarantee automatic repair in all cases.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cuttlefox's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abuse or fraud, or if required by law. Where possible, we will give you notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue. You may also delete your account at any time from within the Service.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and, where applicable, the laws of the jurisdiction in which Cuttlefox operates. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated by email where reasonably possible. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
